IAFF 3rd District Information
Passing of 3rd DVP Mike Mullane
Jan 01, 2016

Brothers and Sisters,

It is with a heavy heart and deep regret that I must inform you that our brother and good friend Mike Mullane passed away early this morning. IAFF 3rd DVP Mullane has been an icon in our union and there has been no better friend to each and every one of us in the 3rd District than Mike. He had been battling complications from a recent surgery that he had underwent. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones at this sad time. Once we have information on arrangements we will post it through our Facebook page and email.
Words dont really work well at a time like this, or in trying to describe what a person has done in their life to affect others. Mike was a good friend and mentor for so many of us in this union. It did not matter if you came from a Local with twelve hundred members or one with only three, you were a union sister or brother and he took care of your issue as if it was his own.
On a personal level, Mike had a special connection for us here in Maine. Over the years he has helped shape the Professional Fire Fighters of Maine into a state organization that has been able to expand its role in servicing its members and leverage all that the IAFF has to offer our Locals. He has helped us become politically active at every level so that we can best support the needs and of our members.
Mike was my brother and friend, he was your brother and friend. He lived his life in the service of those union members who ride the trucks everyday, knowing that they deserved the best for taking the risk of doing the work we do. Please keep him in your prayers and his family and loved ones. May Mike rest in peace, we will take it from here brother.

IAFF State Associations [3rd District]
Jul 13, 2008

The 3rd District covers the great states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Pursuant to the constitution and by-laws of the International Association of Fire Fighters [IAFF], a majority of IAFF local unions located in any one state, province or federal installation may submit a proposal to charter a state or provincial association or joint council. In 1979 several IAFF Locals throughout the State of Maine submitted a Charter to the IAFF for approval. Since that time the Professional Fire Fighters [PFFM] of Maine have been representing the interests of Professional Fire Fighters, Fire Officers, Paramedics, Inspectors and Dispatchers throughout the state through direct servicingn and our legislative and/or policital action programs. Today 28 IAFF Affiliates are members of the PFFM and we represent nearly 1,000 IAFF members in Maine.

In addition to the PFFM, the other states located in the IAFF's 3rd District also have chartered State Orginaztions. They too are on the front lines representing the interets of the IAFF members within their respective states. Below are the links to their websites for your review and information.

I encourage all of you to visit their sites as well as ours... Progress Through Unity!
